Student-athletes earned four gold, one silver and one bronze medal at OFSAA track and field
Upper Canada District School Board student-athletes brought home six provincial medals from the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations track and field championships, held June 4 to 6 in St. Catharines, Ont.
UCDSB athletes earned three gold medals, two silver and one bronze at the event. Medal-winning performances included:
- Gold — Tyson Dalzell, Carleton Place High School, novice boys shot put
- Gold — Isobel Orji, Thousand Islands Secondary School, junior girls 100 metres
- Gold — Thousand Islands Secondary School, open girls 4×400-metre relay: Victoria Ford, Lilah Kinch, Avalea Simpson, Emma St. Pierre and Olivia St. Pierre
- Silver — Isobel Orji, Thousand Islands Secondary School, junior girls 200 metres
- Silver — Thousand Islands Secondary School, senior girls 4×100-metre relay: Tiawna Anderson, Victoria Ford, Isobel Orji, Emma St. Pierre and Olivia St. Pierre
- Bronze — Joey Conklin, Thousand Islands Secondary School, junior boys pole vault
Athletes from 14 UCDSB secondary schools qualified for and competed at the provincial championships, including Almonte District High School, Athens District High School, Brockville Collegiate Institute, Carleton Place High School, Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School, Gananoque Secondary School, North Dundas District High School, North Grenville District High School, Perth and District Collegiate Institute, Rideau District High School, Rockland District High School, Seaway District High School, Thousand Islands Secondary School, and Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute.
