Ukrainian committee seeks local host families

Do you have some extra space in your home and extra room in your heart?

The Smiths Falls Welcomes Ukraine Committee is looking for Smiths Falls area residents who are willing to open their home to a Ukrainian family fleeing the war abroad. Approved families will be asked to commit to six months to a year minimum and participation in an assessment process.

Can’t open your home, but still wish to help out? Why not become a host family supporter by offering to take our Ukrainian friends to appointments or outings.

The Committee is also looking for individuals who speak Polish or Ukrainian and are willing to offer translation services to those who arrive. Committee volunteers in the area of visa processing, host house visits, communications (Facebook and website update, emails), and other opportunities as we continue to help those resettle in the area. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page (Smiths Falls Welcomes Ukraine) for the launch of our new website. Anyone who is willing to help out please email: SFWelcomesUkraine@gmail.com and stay tuned for information on an upcoming open house for anyone wishing to lend a hand.
