SUBMITTED
The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) has granted the request that came from CAIVAN (Perth GC) Limited’s legal team, which is to adjourn the merit hearing originally scheduled to begin on Aug. 19, 2024.
A new Case Management Conference (CMC) has been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at 10 a.m.
The Merit Hearing has been rescheduled to take place from Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, to Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. Please note that the Tribunal will not be sitting on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, in observance of Family Day. Members of the public are welcome to attend both the CMC and hearing (Case Number OLT-23000534) and can join virtually or by telephone at 1-888-299-1889 (Access code: 943-363-669).
Recently, the Town of Perth, along with Lanark County and peer reviewers, submitted witness statements to the Tribunal on a range of concerns focused on the proposed development including traffic, emergency management, planning, watershed planning, environmental impact, and municipal servicing and capacity. These witness statements highlighted that additional information is required, indicating that the application provided by CAIVAN was premature.
Michael Touw, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Perth, says he’s proud of the Town’s staff efforts. “Our staff has demonstrated exceptional dedication and thoroughness in addressing the concerns raised by this proposed subdivision,” says Touw. “Their commitment to ensuring all aspects are meticulously reviewed and aligned with provincial standards truly reflects our ongoing dedication to maintaining the integrity and quality of life in our community.”
The Town will continue to provide information to the public relating to this OLT hearing as it becomes available, through the Town’s website and social media. As the matter is now one of a legal capacity, Town staff and Council are not able to provide comment on the case. Questions regarding the process can be sent to the CAO, Michael Touw, at cao@perth.ca.
