Picnic Smiths Falls returns for third year

During Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Manager of Tourism and Economic Development Julia Crowder announced that the Picnic Smiths Falls program has begun for a third summer. Participating restaurants have partnered with the town to create a special picnic box with a curated menu, tourism guide, and Smiths Falls gift. Each restaurant offers popular and delicious food and drink which are packed to go in a pretty white box, perfect for enjoying along the canal or in any of Smiths Falls’ parks.

This year, a picnic blanket is the gift included in the Picnic Smiths Falls box, and it has caused “a bit of buzz in the community already,” Crowder reported.

There are currently seven businesses participating in the Picnic Smiths Falls program, and Crowder anticipates that more will join as the summer gets going. Currently, you can purchase a tasty and special picnic box from The Vault; Bowie’s; Boomtown; Harvest Social; Two Guys for Lunch; C’est Tout; and The Pickled Pig.

In the past two years, the Picnic Smiths Falls program has generated over $50,000 in sales for local small businesses.
